The Muji Travel Cabin Hut

Not unfamiliar with hut designs with the recently featured Dropbox Hotel being a novel hotelier experience and Airstream Camping adding GL to glamping, SATORI & SCOUT's latest find is that of MUJI, the famous Japanese design house that so beautifully creates simplicity in home items and affordability alike. With various prototypes showcased at earlier years of Tokyo Designers Week, MUJI's cabins are finally available and are set to be released later in 2017.

As MUJI explains, "...it's not as dramatic as owning a house or a vacation home, but it's not as basic as going on a trip. Put it in the mountains, near the ocean, or in a garden, and it immediately blends in with the surroundings, inviting you to a whole new life. this was the vision behind our radically new MUJI hut concept."

Some 10 sqm and suitably sized for a living space, entry area and bed / reclining zone, the spacious little cabin is nice for a weekend getaway, or perhaps a friendly addition to any garden. With a generous window complemented with a smaller reverse-side window, the room gains a quality amount of natural daylight. With a sliding door, rest-down area and a recessed porchway, the box-shaped unit is simplicity and good design all-round.

MUJI's hut has been made via the art of Japanese shipbuilding with the dark toned cedar wood burnt to increase its durability. Also dark-toned clad to contrast with the internal light coloured boarding, the hut gives itself an air of lightness only matched by it's raft foundation. Leave the place how you found it is always the go-to motto.
