Observatory House With Impressive Views

Impressive homes always catch the eyes of our studio team, and this 'observatory' home in London (UK) is one which might have an eye already on you. A light-filled three-bedroom penthouse apartment with private roof terraces, several balconies and an integral garage, this home occupies the vast lateral upper levels of a former paint factory. With a glazed roof apex and two huge decked terraces with incredible, uninterrupted views of London in all directions, there are only a limited amount of adjectives that can truly describe the home experience.

Entry into the apartment is made via a gated foyer through which the property has right of way to a large internal double garage (how many apartments can have their own garage AND rooftop terrace - not many!). Arriving into the hallway, the entirety of the fourth floor is occupied by an expansive open-plan kitchen, dining and living room, all with soaring vaulted ceilings and exposed timber and steel beams. Two beautiful sets of glazed double doors open to enclosed balconies and light pours through a wonderful arched Crittal window at the western aspect, one of four throughout. A breakfast bar separates the dining area from the kitchen which has Corian worktops arranged around a kitchen island and an impressive stainless-steel range cooker.

Beyond, there are three double bedrooms, two with built-in wardrobes, and all with Crittal windows in painted-brick surrounds. The master bedroom opens from the living room through full-height doors between floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. From here there is access to an enormous bathroom with walk-in shower and steam room (yes - a steam room), complete with beautifully tiled mosaics, underfloor heating and illuminated by two rooflights. The bathroom has secondary access from the dining area through a short hall separating a utility room and guest WC. The two bedrooms at the south-east end of the apartment can be found, past the kitchen, through a hallway that turns with the curve of a glass-brick wall. Both bedrooms have rooflights and the larger has glazed doors onto a balcony. A bathroom with iroko surfaces and painted-brick walls is shared by both.

To gain access onto the huge decked terraces is a modest steel spiral staircase that ascends from the dining area to a family room within the extended apex of the glazed roof. With maple flooring and glazed sliding doors at each end, the rooftop wonder is then accessible, and quite frankly, this has to be the highlight of this modern home. Located in a relatively quiet residential street of London, the opportunity to host all your luxurious city-life dinner parties and at the same time have a quiet night in with your family or friends, the flexibility is fantastic.

SATORI & SCOUT are certainly impressed and the juxtaposition of materials and colourways should not go under-appreciated as your eyes are perhaps most impressed by that terrace view. With the white perfectly complementing the timber flooring and roof joists, this home is certainly impressive. Discover more about the home online at: TheModernHouse.com.
