Smartest of 2017: Blackberry KEYone

"...Yet one smartphone that has continued to shine in 2017 is Blackberry's new KEYone. I thought Blackberry were no more, we hear you cry..."

In the news of Apple‘s new iPhone 8 and X launch, we are confident that many of you will think to yourself how amazing they are (or boringly repetitive to earlier releases as SATORI & SCOUT thinks), yet one smartphone that has continued to shine in 2017 is Blackberry’s new KEYone. ‘I thought Blackberry were no more’, we hear you cry.

Revived by Chinese based technology company TCL Communication, the leading global smartphone manufacturer is the new licensing partner of BlackBerry Limited and in their first instance, have introduced this little beauty, absolutely perfect for those looking for an alternative to Apple or Samsung’s dominance. In a similar vein to when Lenovo took over IBM, TCL Communication have ensured that all our favourite Blackberry features have remained true and present. For example, the KEYone still features a physical keyboard, it’s black appearance, and its known usability and reliability. Absolutely ideal for the professional, there is no reason you’d ever want to consider Apple’s alternatives.

Boasting a sleek and lightweight aluminium frame, and luxuriously soft textured phone backing, the KEYone feels like an entirely solid construction. Designed to offer the most secure Android smartphone available, the software is that of Android™ 7.1 Nougat and features all of the entire Google Play store and apps, as well as being on the receiving end to all of Google™ security patches over time. Allowing the owner to personalise up to 52 customisable shortcuts via the phone’s keyboard, the super easy to use and a navigable interface is unrivalled; simply scroll up, left or right for all sorts of sneaky shortcuts that you’d initially think are far beyond this QWERTY dream machine. Everyone loved Blackberry Hub too, right? All messages in one place? Yes please.

With a battery life of 26 hours mixed use all thanks to its 3505mAh battery, and both a 12MP rear camera with an industry leading camera sensor and 8MP front camera, the phone really is punching it’s weight against it’s competitors. Oh, and it’s 84-degree wide angle lens is super unique.

Do More Different With Blackberry

If we're all totally honest with ourselves, why is Apple that popular? Like really. With so many of the smaller phone brands offering just as much and more (Blackberry are most certainly now a minor player in the market), there is no reason why you should continue on the Apple bandwagon. Have we used this phone? Yes, we all own one in the studio. Do we love it? Absolutely.
