Soma are already well-known for their various carafes, water bottles et al., and is now proud to partner with Parley and Starbucks to bring you a reusable BPA-free glass vessel that SATORI & SCOUT oh-so think is great. Parley for the Oceans is a global network of creatives, brands, governments and NGOs committed to protecting the oceans, and this collaboration is just what you needed to read on a Tuesday morning.
The Soma glass water bottle is already doing a lot of good, being both lightweight and durable, and made from 100% BPA-free, shatter-resistant glass; this project focusses on the bottle’s sleeve, a design that is 90% made from material equivalent to two plastic bottles that have been intercepted from remote islands and coastal communities. Both complete with a natural bamboo cap which is leak-proof and made from renewable resources, this Soma bottle is a whole bundle of resourcefulness.
Having collaborated with various other brands such as Adidas, Soma is further stepping up it’s eco-awareness. Available exclusively at Starbucks, this Soma x Parley bottle sleeve collaboration aims to reduce throw-away plastic water bottle usage. Parley upcycles common trash into innovative materials by transforming PET bottles into granular pellets to then continue on to become great products, like this. How do Parley work?
First, Parley works to remove plastic from shorelines, ghostnets from seas, and intercepts plastic waste before it reaches landfills, rivers, and oceans. Parley’s intercepted PET bottles are then transformed into a pellet through the pelletizing process, where flakes are heated, cleaned, dried and extruded into pellets. Upon conclusion, these pellets are then melted into filament and transformed into neoprene, and in turn, can be used to manufacture this neoprene sleeve, containing the equivalent of two PET bottles. Simple.

Soma Doing GoodSATORI & SCOUT see Soma as makers of beautiful, sustainable products to hydrate the world, and though this tagline is the brand's mission, it is exactly what they're doing, well. As Soma comments, 'let's invent our way out of this (climate change crisis) mess'.
