Hotel Amongst The Trees Of Sweden

"...To have the Treehotel in the middle of nature, the Hoteliers want to do it on nature’s terms..."

We have seen some fantastic hotels in our time, and there are some terrific hotels around the world that don’t cost a week’s rent equivalent to stay for one night, but none quite match this unique forestry fantasy experience in Sweden. With contemporary bedrooms set within perfectly unspoilt nature, staying at Treehotel will enable you to forget about the time constraints of everyday life, enjoy the serene environment and pure air, and perhaps rejuvenate yourself in a setting that is all too idyllic yet all too familiar with modern civilisation and sophistication.

Located some 70 miles from Lulea Airport in Sweden, the hotel’s nearest villagee is Harads. With a local population of a modest six hundred, there are a few local amenities such as a restaurant, shop and guest house (which also acts the breakfast and reception facilities for the Treehotel). With a medium-length stroll between the hotel’s reception to your chosen treeroom, you can really absorb nature and get a true sense of what’s in-store for you before you’ve even unloaded your baggages and set foot in your accomodation. With magnificent surroundings omnipresent to each tree room, you are given a fantastic view of the Lule River valley, miles upon miles of forest and the powerful Lule River itself.

Inspired by the film The Tree Lover by Jonas Selberg Augustsen, the Treehotel was conceived out of the tale of three city men who wanted to go back to their roots by building a tree house. As such, the idea behind the Treehotel is to offer high-standard accommodation in a harmonious place where daily stress melts away in the presence of unspoilt nature. With each available room suspended some 4-6 meters above ground, the Hoteliers have built their wonderful idea with the help of none other than some of Scandinavia’s leading architects.

Available accommodation at the hotel include a foreign-capsule “cabin”, a mirror-camouflaged “mirror cube”, an extraterrestrial-body UFO, a traditional-shed “blue cone”, a wonderfully-contextual “birds nest” and a widely-panoramic “dragonfly” – each design is as unique public art as they are private dwellings.

With sustainability and ecological values highly relevant for the company, each room is made from materials and construction techniques that make as little environmental impact as possible, not wanting to cut any trees down whatsoever, or damage nature during construction. With flooring made of wood that has been heated to over 200 degrees to protect against destruction, walls of good insulation, internal spaces warmed up by hydroelectric powered underfloor heating and lighting of low-energy LED-systems, the tree rooms are as sophisticated as their concept is surreal. Wastewater and water provision have also been cleverly tackled whereby there isn’t a single design aspect that hasn’t contributed toward their fantastic sustainability rating.

To have the Treehotel in the middle of nature, the Hoteliers want to do it on nature’s terms. A camping-hotel adventure.
